Snapchat to launch augmented reality art software

We have discussed Augmented Reality (AR) and the various and exciting ways it is being implemented today- here is more evidence about the innovative ways companies have started to use this technology.

Facebook just announced it’s plan to launch to pin augmented reality art to locations around the world. When a Snapchat user holds their phone up to a specific spot, they will be able to see the works of art. The technology is credited to an Israeli augmented reality company cimagine that Facebook acquired at the end of last year.

Promotional images tease locations for the works to be displayed in Paris, Sydney and Las Vegas but it is said that we can expect to have more works in New York, Chicago, Washington D.C., LA, Toronto, London and Rio. Jeff Koons is the first artist they have partnered with.

It’s got us thinking about how we can use this technology to enhance our audience experiences.
